Instead of being frightened, Goldilocks reveals she’s actually a secret detective, on a mission to solve the mystery of the missing honey from the bear’s pantry! The three bears, intrigued by her story, team up with Goldilocks to uncover the culprit: a mischievous raccoon who has been stealing their food! Together, they hatch a plan to catch the raccoon in the act, leading to an unexpected friendship and a new adventure in the enchanted woods.

This is a three-week planning sequence. This text explores issues of conservation and starts to explore whether we can escape the issues that endangered animals face on a day-to-day basis. Children create fact files on endangered animals as well as writing short persuasive pieces on why we need to save a particular endangered animal. Children will be able to identify how a sentence is formed by its grammatical structure as a question, a command, a statement or an exclamation. Children will be encouraged to edit work, being aware of tense and word choice. Word classes (nouns/verbs/adjectives) will be referred to throughout. Year 2 Writing Focus: Exploring Omar the Bees and Me and Writing About Honey Cake In Year 2, children will be reading the delightful story Omar the Bees and Me, where they’ll discover the important role bees play in the world. As we explore the book, our writing lessons will focus on improving key skills such as: Conjunctions: Linking ideas in our sentences, using words like and, but, and because. Suffixes: Adding endings like -ing, -ed, and -ly to words to create new meanings. Sentence Openers: Starting sentences in different ways to make our writing more exciting. Expanded Noun Phrases: Describing nouns with extra detail (e.g., the fluffy yellow cake). Contractions: Using shortened forms like don’t, isn’t, and can’t in our writing. Writing Outcome: Children will use their new skills to write clear and creative instructions on how to make a honey cake, just like the one in the story! They will carefully structure their writing to help others follow the steps easily. Incidental Write: In addition to their main writing task, children will create a fact file about bee farming, sharing interesting facts about bees and how honey is made.
